Support the LAA Alumni Food Collection Event!

Be a part of a wonderful event to bring together the strength of the LAA Community for a critical cause! Join LAA grads from Greater Parole Community Association (Lon Powell, NLA19, FLG20; Beryle Downs, NLA20; Sherry Hutton, NLA20), Anne Arundel County Food Bank (Susan Thomas, FLG21) and Feed Anne Arundel (Monica Alvarado, FLG09).

DONATE:
The community at-large is urged to provide curbside drop-off at Chamber’s Park located at
14 Dorsey Ave, Annapolis, MD 21401 on Saturday, November 21st between 10:00am – 2:00pm. Cash donations to feed families through Feed Anne Arundel will be accepted through a text app on the day of the event. Registration not needed for curbside donation.

Simply access Chambers Park via the Mount Olive AME Church (2 Hicks Ave, Annapolis, MD 21401 - Enter Hicks St. from West Street, opposite Jiffy Lube) anytime between 10:00am - 2:00pm! LAA Volunteers will be standing by to direct you for contactless curbside drop-off!

VOLUNTEER (Registered Volunteers Only):
LAA Alumni are invited to register here to participate as volunteers to collect, sort and load donations.

Afternoon Shift Help Needed: (12:00p - 2:30p). Connect with classmates and help our community prepare for the challenging winter months ahead. Brief remarks will take place on Facebook Live throughout the event, featuring special guests and an update on food security headed into the winter. Snacks and hot beverages will be on hand and LAA volunteers will receive chicken sandwiches courtesy of the Chick-fil-A Passport to Serve initiative.

Volunteers will be limited to no more than 25 participants at one time for this outdoor food collection event in compliance with Anne Arundel County COVID-19 gathering guidelines.

*Registered volunteers should have received an email with details (parking, check-in, etc.) on Thursday evening. If you did not receive the email, please contact us. Please do not bring any additional helpers with you who are not registered, as we are carefully managing the number of participants with respect to COVID restrictions.

 

Items in most need include:

·      Canned Meats

·      Peanut Butter & Jelly (plastic jars)

·      Boxed Pasta & Sauce (plastic jars)

·      Healthy Snacks (breakfast bars, dried fruit)

·      Cereal

·      Soups / canned meals (chef Boyardee)

·      Mac n Cheese

·      Baby Food

·      Ensure / Nutritional supplements

·      Infant & Adult Diapers and Wipes

·      Toothbrushes and toothpaste

·      Deodorant
