The LAA Connector | Welcome FLG26 - Dare we say the Best Class yet? 😉

Twenty years ago I began my own LAA Flagship experience with the 2006 class Opening Retreat under the leadership of Griff Hall and Jim Harden. (FLG06 class photo at right)

What I remember the most from my Flagship experience is the people. To this day I remain so grateful to have shared the experience with such a diverse and truly interesting cohort of community leaders. I learned so much from my classmates during my Flagship year and I am grateful each time we cross paths in the community.

The most useful takeaway from my Flagship year was the following guiding principles of The Four Fold Way by Angeles Arrien:

*Show up & be fully present
*Pay attention to what has heart and meaning
*Tell the truth without blame or judgement
*Be open to outcome not attached to it

I have carried these with me personally and professionally for twenty years and I can't express how practical and deeply helpful they remain to this day.

This month I had the privilege of welcoming 52 new Flagship participants for their Opening Retreat under the expert facilitation of Griff Hall and Derek Matthews.

Reflecting on their recent Retreat, and looking forward to their upcoming Government Day session, I am struck by the enduring value of investing in community leadership.

Community leadership is the courage, creativity and capacity to inspire participation, development and sustainability for strong communities.

— Sir Gustav Nossal

More than 30 years and 1800+ graduates since our founding, 52 leaders including public and private sector, commercial, nonprofit and individual citizens have stepped forward to invest their time, talent and treasure in the Flagship experience. I am humbled and deeply grateful for the passion and dedication each of these leaders bring to the Flagship opportunity.
