If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together. - African Proverb
It’s busy season for LAA. Not that there’s ever a slow season. But springtime, with both programs in session and New Leaders Celebration and Tribute to Community Leadership events on the horizon; plus new Alumni Development Events like the upcoming Conversation on Leadership exploring structural racism with Tiranny Thurmond and inaugural service events like the Community Planting, well let’s just say there’s a whole lot going on this season.
At the same time, we are slowly but surely emerging from a year of unprecedented challenge. As more of our community is vaccinated and we begin to find ways to gather together - carefully and safely - there is a renewed opportunity to connect with LAA classmates and colleagues and chart the course for the recovery from the health and economic difficulties of the past year, together.
As sure as new, green shoots emerge from the soil, there are new opportunities ahead for us to not just recover from the challenges we have faced, but to reimagine how we will approach similar and different challenges moving forward. As we progress from surviving the pandemic to building back better, we will achieve greater success if we grow together.
Seeds, soil, water, sunlight. Metaphorically speaking, this is the work of community leadership; and LAA is proud to offer a framework of events, programs and community to inspire, develop and connect our local leaders.
This is an open invitation to grow with the LAA community in the weeks and months ahead. Here are just a few seeds you might consider:
If you have yet to go through the LAA Flagship program, apply for the next Flagship class (Deadline May 31st).
If you've graduated but you're not currently involved, invest in annual membership and explore a host of member engagement opportunities.
Already a member? Why not join a Flagship session planning team or Champion an Alumni Development Event?
There's an array of small, medium and large opportunities to invest in local leadership through LAA participation.
Not sure where to start? Join us for LAA101 this month and let's figure out the next steps to growing together moving forward.
