The year is 1994. Laptop computers are a brand-new innovation. IBM’s ThinkPad and Mac’s PowerBook exist but are very rare.
The first PDAs or Personal Digital Assistants (think “Palm Pilots”) are released. Cell phones are available but not yet commonplace. Amazon is founded as an online bookstore.
The White House launches a web page. Initial commerce sites are established and mass marketing campaigns are launched via email, introducing the term “spamming” to the Internet vocabulary; and the first class of the Leadership Anne Arundel Flagship Program graduates.
Fast forward to present and it’s clear LAA Founders couldn’t possibly have imagined what leadership challenges that first graduating class would face over the next 25 years.
