Support the LAA Alumni Food (& Blood & Sweater) Collection Event!

Let’s fill the Food Bank Truck AND the Luminis Blood Bus! Oh, and while you’re at it, bring along #justonesweater!

Be a part of a wonderful event to bring together the strength of the LAA Community for critical community support!

Join LAA grads from Greater Parole Community Association (Lon Powell, NLA19, FLG20; Beryle Downs, NLA20; Sherry Hutton, NLA20; Lisa Wilson, NLA21), Anne Arundel County Food Bank (Susan Thomas, FLG21) and Feed Anne Arundel (Monica Alvarado, FLG09).

AND NEW THIS YEAR: FLG21 Ellen Shiery has arranged to have the AAMC Blood Mobile on-site so you can provide a quick blood donation in addition to dropping off food; and FLG07 Lisa Seborowski will be onhand collecting sweaters for the 3rd Annual #justonesweater clothing drive!

TWO WAYS TO PARTICIPATE:

  • DONATE - Any and all community members are invited to DONATE food and supplies, blood and/or sweaters per the instructions below.
  • VOLUNTEER - LAA Members are invited to REGISTER for a Volunteer shift* to help direct, collect and sort donations. *Please note: We are accepting volunteers for both morning and afternoon shifts, however AFTERNOON IS MOST NEEDED at this time (Noon - 2:30p).

DONATE:
The community at-large is urged to donate FOOD, BLOOD and/or SWEATERS. (no registration needed)

Food Donation: Curbside donation is available at Chamber’s Park located at 14 Dorsey Ave, Annapolis, MD 21401 on Saturday, November 20th  between 10:00am – 2:00pm. Cash donations to feed families through Feed Anne Arundel will be accepted through a text app on the day of the event. Registration not needed for curbside donation.

Blood Donation: You can sign up in advance with this link or the QR code at right or just show up between 10:00am and 2:00pm.

#justonesweater will be collecting men's women's and children's gently used, clean sweaters, fleeces and hoodies. No coats please. Be a part of making someone else’s winter warmer in Annapolis and Anne Arundel County.

 

LOCATION:
Simply access Chambers Park via the Mount Olive AME Church (2 Hicks Ave, Annapolis, MD 21401 - Enter Hicks St. from West Street, opposite Jiffy Lube) anytime between 10:00am - 2:00pm! LAA Volunteers will be standing by to direct you for contactless curbside drop-off and/or the blood bus!

VOLUNTEER (Registered Event Volunteers Only):
LAA Alumni are invited to register here to participate as volunteers to direct food, blood and sweater donors and collect, sort and load food donations.

Morning (9:30a - 12:00p) and Afternoon (12:00p - 2:30p) Shift Help Needed. Connect with classmates and help our community prepare for the challenging winter months ahead. Brief remarks will take place on Facebook Live throughout the event, featuring special guests and an update on food security headed into the winter. Click the red “REGISTER” button above to sign up for a volunteer shift. 

*Please note: We are accepting volunteers for both morning and afternoon shifts, however AFTERNOON IS MOST NEEDED at this time (Noon - 2:30p).

*Registered volunteers can expect an email with details (parking, check-in, etc.) on Thursday evening. If you do not receive the email, please contact us. Please do not bring any additional helpers with you who are not registered, as we are carefully managing the number of participants with respect to COVID-19/Delta variables.

·      Peanut Butter & Jelly (plastic jars)

·      Boxed Pasta & Sauce (plastic jars)

·      Healthy Snacks (breakfast bars, dried fruit)

·      Cereal

·      Soups / canned meals (chef Boyardee)

·      Mac n Cheese

·      Baby Food

·      Ensure / Nutritional supplements

·      Infant & Adult Diapers and Wipes

·      Toothbrushes and toothpaste

·      Deodorant
